Had a pleasant train ride from Warsaw to Krakow today. We decided to take a cab to the station this morning as it only cost us 14 zloty last night. To get the NZ dollar amount you divide the zloty by 3. So it was pretty cheap. We were on a high speed train and it got up to the ton.
There was lots of snow in the fields that we passed. Alison kept looking out for wildlife. She saw some birds of prey on the power lines, a pheasant, a couple of squirrels and we both saw a fox.

Once we got to the hotel it was time for a thirty minute lie down before heading out for a look around. 7 km later we were back in the hotel. In that time we had located where we needed to go on Saturday night to pick up the ghost tour we had booked, we had found the Cathedral and the Castle, the Market, the University, Copernicus (again), Pope John Paul II and about 27 other churches. There seems to be a church on every corner. We also saw some guys in religious dress who could have been either priests or seminarians. Not sure which as we were in the university district and there were a fair few churches so they could have been either or both. We also found a nice little cafe and had a flat white. It was again pitch black and hard to believe it was only half past four!
We had another wee rest and then headed out to hunt down some dinner. There was a pasta/pizza place just across the road and we went there. I had a nice cheese soup as my first course because I haven't had it before. Not sure if it is a Polish dish but I still had it. The whole meal, soup, main and a glass of wine cost me 30 zloty so quite a good price. Have to have an early night tonight as we are being picked up at 7am to head out to Auschwitz.
